JOHNSON CITY – After winning the MAC league championship at Sidney High School, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ volleyball team, and other MAC opponents, traveled to Johnson City for the Section IV Championship. The Bobcats came home with another title! Congratulations, Bobcats.
The Bobcats finished pool play 8-0 to start to go into the official brackets as the #1 seed. In the semi-finals, B-G faced the defending Section IV boys’ champs Vestal, who beat them in the finals last year. However, it was B-G’s time to shine as they came out on top of a hard fought matchup, winning 26-24.
If you thought that match was tough, there was one more match to go. B-G faced Unatego, who also went 8-0 in pool play. B-G became 2024-2025 Sectional champions in a 25-23 victory.
“Our boys went in feeling confident in themselves but also humble to know that anything could happen,” Coach Kutz said. “ B-G has been in the MAC finals for the last four tournaments since COVID and were runner ups for there of those years and then champions this year!”
Congratulations to Coach Kutz, Brock Porter, Matthew Wombacker, Corbin Germond, Brian Lynn, Ryan Larsen, Aiden Vermilyea, Nolan Foster, Ethan Beardslee, Mason Sherwood, and Elliott Briggs.
Also, congratulations to the Unadilla Valley boys’ team on winning the bronze bracket at the Section IV tournament.
Good season to all local boys’ volleyball teams and best of luck to the seniors.
